As just announced, Ravi will be joining the cast of Patty Jenkins and Warner Bros. sequel, WONDER WOMAN 2, opposite Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. He is one of the leads in the indie feature film, COME AS YOU ARE (97% on Rotten Tomatoes) opposite Hayden Szeto & Gabourey Sidibe, as well as the Seth Rogen/Charlize Theron comedy LONG SHOT, at Lionsgate, both of which premiered at SXSW 2019.
His Ravi Patel’s Pursuit of Happiness premieres on CNN this summer. The highly anticipated docuseries is replacing Anthony Bourdaine’s Parts Unknown. He also is co-creator and co-lead in Netflix half-hour comedy Messy, which premieres this September. He is currently filming a docuseries about the standup comedy scene in India, produced by Will Smith.
Ravi can most recently be seen recurring in ABC’s AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE, Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang’s critically-acclaimed Netflix series MASTER OF NONE, along with TBS’s comedy series WRECKED. Before this, he was a series regular on Danny Chun’s FOX show, GRANDFATHERED, opposite John Stamos and Josh Peck. On the feature side, he can also be seen in the current Sundance hit BAND AID, opposite Zoe Lister-Jones and Adam Pally.
In 2014, Ravi wrote, co-directed, and starred in MEET THE PATELS, a documentary that he created with his sister, Geeta Patel, that won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the LA Film Festival that year. The film portrays Patel’s autobiographical journey of trying to find an Indian wife. In 2016, it premiered to rave reviews on Netflix as one of the hottest films across all genres and the high-trending film behind MAKING A MURDERER. The duo currently have a deal with Fox Searchlight Pictures to adapt the documentary into a feature length film.
Having been cast in pilots nearly every year, Ravi has appeared on numerous popular shows over the course of his career, including but not limited to IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, SCRUBS, HAWAII FIVE-0, GREY’S ANATOMY, CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL, and THE COMEDIANS.
Separately from acting, Ravi is the co-founder of This Bar Saves Lives, which donates a meal packet for every granola bar they sell, and is an active investor in several health and wellness start-ups.
He is currently based in LA.
